Founder & Executive Director
Nina is a native of San Antonio, Texas, a Marine Corps veteran, and a clinical psychology doctoral student.
“While my Marine Corps career has come to an end, service to my country and my community will continue.”
With over ten years of professional leadership and mentoring experience, Nina founded the Rustic Ranch with a goal in mind: to create a space where veterans may work through emotional triggers, healthy coping mechanisms are learned and implemented, women and young girls gain confidence in themselves and their abilities, and where the community may come together in growth, healing, and camaraderie.

Fernando is a San Antonio, TX native and Marine Corps Veteran. Pursuing their ranching dreams, Fernando and his sister Nina chose to do something about the mental health stereotypes and resources surrounding the veteran community. Fernando takes pride in community service and teamwork.
“I believe becoming a part of the ranching community and bonding with the horses will assist in relieving day-to-day stress. You learn the trust required to create a bond with an animal, clear your head-space, and completely focus on your environment.”
